    » Supreme Industries bags two prestigious awards at 6th National Awards for Technology Innovation

    Supreme Industries Ltd, an acknowledged leader of India's plastics industry, has bagged 6th National Awards for Technology Innovation in Petrochemical & Downstream Plastics Processing Industry in the category -- innovation in Polymer Waste Management & Recycling Technology and Green Polymeric Materials & Products. The company has also bagged Runner-up award of 6th National Awards for Technology Innovation in Petrochemical & Downstream Plastics Processing Industry in the category -- innovation in Polymer Science and Technology. Awards were presented by the Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Shri Ananth Kumar in a recently held function at New Delhi on 20th January, 2016. The Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir was also present at the function.

    Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ananth Kumar said that there is so much talent in the country in the sector, and there is need to harness, map and support them so that there are more innovations, and Research and Development activities. He said that the country needs more value addition of the refinery output so that the polymer industry grows up fast, and creates new products and does import substitution. The Minister stressed on the need of launching awareness campaign about the benefits and range of polymer products, and also of recycling and reusing them.

    The award scheme was introduced by the government as a part of National policy on Petrochemicals, 2007, to incentivize meritorious innovation and inventions in the field of Polymeric materials, products, processes and other areas of national and social importance. The awards are given for outstanding contribution to R&D, leading to less energy consumption, better plastic waste management, increase in product life cycle, development of innovative new products, quality standards, recycling and other emerging areas.

    Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET), an autonomous organization under Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, implements the scheme of the national awards. For the sixth national awards, 264 nominations were received, 17 of which have been selected as winners and 14 as runners up for 2015A-16. Supreme Industries, Rs 4,500 crore company, is India's leading plastic processing company with nine business divisions. Handling over 3,20,000 tonnes of polymers annually, Supreme Industries is the country's largest plastics processor. Supreme Industries has also pioneered Cross- Laminated Films, HMHD Films, Multilayer Films and SWR Piping Systems in India.

    » Protective Packaging Division's Unit II in Hosur was inaugurated by Executive Director of Company, Shri. Vijay Kumar Taparia on 26th September, 2012.

    This Unit is located in Byramangalam village near Hosur which is 14 km away from Hosur Unit I. This new factory is facilitated with latest facilities and machineries in order to comply with the latest trends and regulations in manufacturing.

    Presently, in this new unit, a new extruded crosslinked foam line has been commissioned. New product lines are going to be added in this location later, as per the Division's expansion plans. Presently, we have constructed around 75000 sq. feet area in this location to manufacture extruded and block crosslinked foam. Once all future expansion plans identified for this unit is completed, this will become the largest operating unit in our product line in India.

    Hosur Unit I is ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18000 certified. The new unit is also equipped with all state of art safety features and facilities.
