Azolla Beds
Silpaulin Azolla beds are the preferred choice for cultivating organic cattle feed or pashu aahar due to their exceptional durability and strength. Our tarpaulin sheets used in Azolla farming facilitate the production of green manure (Harit khad) and organic fertilizers (Jaivik khad). Silpaulin sheets are surely a versatile choice for sustainable agricultural and animal farming (Pashu palan) practices.
Here are some of the key uses of Supreme Azolla beds in agriculture and farming:
Green Manure: Azolla beds provide an efficient source of organic nitrogen, enriching the soil and enhancing its fertility for subsequent crop cultivation.
Organic Fertilizer: Azolla beds facilitate the production of organic fertilizers, providing natural nutrients to support healthy plant growth and development.
Animal Feed Supplement: Azolla beds are used for cultivating organic cattle feed which is a nutritious supplement for livestock, offering a rich source of protein, vitamins, and minerals essential for animal health and growth.
Vermicomposting: Azolla beds contribute to vermicomposting processes by providing a nutrient-rich substrate for earthworms, enhancing the decomposition of organic matter and the production of high-quality compost.
Biological Pest Control: Azolla beds help in biological pest control reducing the need for chemical pesticides.
Erosion Control & Wastewater Treatment: Azolla beds play a role in erosion control by stabilizing soil surfaces and preventing soil erosion. Additionally, they aid in wastewater treatment and promoting environmental sustainability.
Biofertilizer Production: Azolla beds aid in biofertilizer production, offering an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic fertilizers and contributing to sustainable agricultural practices.
Crop Rotation: Azolla beds help in crop rotation promoting overall crop productivity and sustainability.

Azolla Cultivation Beds for Sustainable Livestock Feed
Supreme leads in developing garden beds designed for azolla cultivation. These beds help farmers efficiently produce high-quality livestock feed. Our azolla cultivation beds perform well in dairy, poultry, and integrated farming, providing consistent yields with minimal resource use.
These durable azolla beds are built with robust materials to withstand India's diverse climates, ensuring year-round productivity. By using Supreme's azolla growing beds, modern farmers can reduce feed costs while enhancing animal nutrition and farm sustainability.
Azolla Cultivation Beds for Dairy, Poultry, and Integrated Farming
Supreme's azolla cultivation beds are elevated structures designed for growing Azolla, a nutrient-rich aquatic fern used as feed. These garden beds create controlled environments that accelerate Azolla growth, making them vital for today's livestock operations.
In dairy and poultry farming, azolla beds produce protein-rich feed with 25-30% crude protein. This decreases reliance on costly concentrates. Integrated systems make efficient use of space, yielding 1-2 kg of fresh Azolla per square metre per day and supporting sustainable feeding cycles.
What is Azolla Farming?
Azolla is a rapidly growing aquatic fern that fixes atmospheric nitrogen. It thrives in shallow water beds and can double its biomass every 3-5 days under optimal conditions of 20-30°C and pH 5.5-7.
Farmers value Azolla as cattle feed because it is highly digestible (75-80%) and offers a rich nutritional content with 20-30% protein, essential amino acids, and vitamins A and B12. Its use is increasing among dairy farmers, reducing feed costs by 20-30% and boosting milk yields by 10-15%.
Features of Supreme Azolla Beds
Material
Supreme azolla beds are made from high-grade UV-stabilised polyethylene, ensuring they do not react with chemicals or promote algae growth. This safe polymer maintains the structure's integrity while preventing the release of harmful substances into the culture.
Durability
These cultivation beds last over 10 years. They can handle heavy loads and be disassembled and reassembled multiple times. Reinforced frames resist warping from water weight or changes in temperature.
UV Resistance
Our UV stabilisation protects against direct sunlight, preserving colour and strength for long-term outdoor use. These beds withstand India's intense sunlight without becoming brittle.
Water Retention
The integrated design reduces evaporation, maintaining water levels at 5-10 cm for optimal Azolla growth. Sloped bases prevent stagnant water, encouraging healthy roots.
Ease of Installation
These modular garden beds require no tools for assembly and can be assembled in under 30 minutes on flat ground. The portable frames are suitable for both smallholder and commercial farming.
Benefits for Farmers and Dairy Operations
Low-Cost Cattle Feed Production
Azolla beds produce 300-500 kg of fresh feed per month from 10 square metres, at a cost of less than ₹1 per kg, compared to ₹20 per kg for concentrates. Dairy farms can easily scale up production, reducing feed costs by 25%.
Higher Milk Yield Support
Livestock on a diet of 20-30% Azolla experience a 12-18% increase in milk production, according to field trials. Azolla cultivation beds ensure a consistent supply of this nutritious fodder.
Sustainable Farming
Nitrogen-fixing Azolla cuts fertiliser use by 30%, supporting organic cycles. Supreme advocates for eco-friendly practices to ensure resilient operations.
Efficient Use of Farm Resources
The compact 1x2 m beds optimise land use. These beds require minimal water, needing only weekly refilling, making them ideal for areas with limited water availability. The yields support zero-waste, integrated systems.
Applications of Azolla Beds
Dairy Farms
These azolla growing beds are ideal for providing fresh green fodder to herds of 50-500 cows and integrate effectively with silage systems.
Poultry Farms
Boost layer production with Azolla-enriched feed; azolla farming beds are well-suited for broiler houses.
Goat Farming
The protein boost enhances kids' growth; portable garden beds are appropriate for semi-intensive setups.
Integrated Farming Systems
These beds can be combined with fish ponds or crops to complete nutrient cycles.
Small and Large Farms
They can scale from backyard setups with 2 beds to commercial operations with over 100 units, accommodating farms of all sizes.
How to Set Up an Azolla Bed
Select a shaded, flat spot and assemble the Supreme frame following the instructions. Fill the bed with 8-10 cm of clean, non-chlorinated water (pH 6-7) and add 500g of Azolla per square metre.
Maintain the temperature between 25 and 30°C, provide some shade, and refresh 20% of the water weekly. Harvest the outer layers daily from week 3 onwards. Thin overcrowded areas to sustain yields; the Supreme beds make this process easier.
